Developing your poker strategy
November 29, 2007
Becoming a good poker player does not depend on your bank roll or even your poker face. The most important part of becoming a good poker poker depends on your poker strategy. If you can develop this strategy in the right manner then your possibilities are endless. This shouldn’t mean that you just use one poker strategy for all games, buy you should get ready for the most unexpected by formulating your ideas into strategies. If you don’t have a strategy to fall back on then you’ll never be able to get the direction while you are playing. Lack of good direction will be harmful to your game, and you will make stupid mistakes.
There really is no set way of formulating your poker strategy as everyone learns and earns at their own pace. Start by breaking down the basics of your game. You will need to have a concrete foundation to build your strategy from. The foundation you choose will define you as a poker player, but this will also help you to go in the right direction for each game. For example, if your strategy is to be aggressive, then this will show everyone through time that you are not one to bluff against.
Developing your poker strategy maybe quite difficult to master, many people have this same problem. Especially begginers have difficulities setting their feet. Most beginners are more concerned about getting everything right, which is the reason beginners have such a hard time. Just remember, deal with the basics first, then you will have the ability to learn from your mistakes, trial and error poker. Make sure you cover the basics before jumping forward or you may find yourself missing out on the most important part of the process.
Lastly, the strategy that you use as a beginner to play poker is not necessarily the one you will use the rest of time, it is not set in stone. Your poker strategy will grow and become stronger the more you play as long as you stick with using the basic rules of poker. Everyone changes their approach to poker more than once, this is called adaptability. There is nothing wrong with this doing this, and it should actually be expected. Your poker opponents are each different and sometimes you have to throw a wrench into your plan to mix things up and confuse opponents.
As you can see having a good poker strategy is a key to success during the early stage of your career. Over time you will be able to change what you are doing, but from the start you should be most concerned with the basics. This will give you something solid to build on, and make things much easier on you as you move forward.

Implied Odds (Part 1 of 2)
Andy Bloch - November 28th 2007
Most people have a pretty good understanding of pot odds - whether the amount of chips in the pot justifies making a call - but they fail to realize that making this calculation only solves part of the poker equation. Often, these players forget to think about how the rest of the hand is going to play out if they make a call, and fail to… (read more)

Comprehensive Reviews Can Lead to Massive Rewards
Publicize Our New Features to Attract New Players
Meet the Full Tilt Poker Affiliate Team at the CAC in Macau
For many prospective players, site reviews serve as a first step in determining whether or not they want to invest their time and, ultimately, money on a given site.
Does the site have the number of players and games they’re looking for? Do they have games at the limits they want to play?
What kind of tournaments do they run and what kind of bonuses do they offer?
For each question a prospective player may have, you as their guide should strive to provide a clear and concise answer that helps them determine whether or not they want to open an account. The most effective reviews will lay out both the high points and even some of the negative points of each site, providing readers with a sense that you are offering an objective opinion rather than simply shilling to raise your conversion numbers.
The more trust a reader has in your opinion, the more likely they are to follow your recommendation and actually open an account. Be sure that the reviews you publish feel like original content rather than a cookie-cutter overview that you cut and paste off other sites. If visitors feel that you’ve taken the time to play on the site and investigate the features it offers, they’ll be more likely to trust your recommendation when you suggest they make a real money deposit.
Finally, be sure to keep your reviews current. If a site adds new features or payment processing options, let your prospective players know by updating your review. If you show your players that you’re up to date on a site’s latest offerings, you’ll again help to earn their trust and, eventually, their business.
In recent weeks, we’ve introduced some new features. Start by letting people know about the Knockout Bounty tournaments where a portion of each prize pool is designated as a bounty on each player in the event.
The more players they knock out of a tournament, the more bounties they’ll win.
We’ve also made it easier to find Pros in the game. Once players login and open a tournament lobby highlighted in red, the pros that are currently in that tournament will now be sorted at the top of the list of players.
Players can also:
Decide if they want to show full tables for ring games
Choose to see the main lobby pop up when they close a table
Decide between three animation settings based on their computer’s performance to optimize their playing experience
Send your players to the New Features page on www.FullTiltPoker.com to let them read about the enhancements we’ve made. Push the new features and you’ll push your bottom line.
The next CAC takes place in Macau, and the Affiliate Team will be there. Don’t miss your chance to meet with us at the conference so we can answer any questions you may have about working with Full Tilt Poker.
Stop by our booth and take advantage of this great opportunity to meet our team in person and learn about how we can help you grow your business over the coming year.
