Absolute Poker’s “instant Play” Takes the Test
August 26, 2008
Writing for CasinoForLionux.com has its privileges, and I was able to take advantage of some of them during the past weekend. I was given the wonderful task of checking out the tournaments (or tourneys as they are called in the online poker lingo) and ring games that some of our recommended sites have to offer. I chose to focus on Absolute Poker first, and, being the Mac freak that I am, used the “Instant Play” mode to sign up and play. The bad news I discovered was that Absolute Poker’s Instant Play currently only offers Holdem poker ring games, and does not support tournaments, freerolls and other poker variations.
The good news is that the interface is smooth, and the connectivity was perfect. It felt no different than any download-based poker client. In fact, with Instant Play I was connected to the Absolute Poker network, just as if I was playing with the normal downloadable game. I was able to take advantage of the great ring traffic at Absolute Poker, and play with all the other players on the site. Which leads me to the other bad news - I lost the little money I had in my budget to a three-of-a-kind (nines), while I was holding pocket rockets! Well, I can’t blame the software or anything but myself for that..
Obviously, we will keep you posted as soon as Absolute Poker comes out with the next version of Instant Play. The new version of the Java poker will support tournaments, freerols, Omaha and even blackjack. I was also informed by the support team that it is scheduled to come out soon, so keep checking in and we will keep you updated, as always, on all the latest in instant gaming.
May the goddess of luck smile upon all your poker hands (but don’t forget your pot odds),
